Synthesizer
  • Precision Sine Source
  • Distortion < 0.2%
  • 30 PPM Frequency Accuracy
  • 20 PPM Frequency Stability
  • Balanced/Unbalanced
  • External Clock Inputs
  • Easy Operation
The PPM Model DS-101 is a digitally synthesized frequency generator capable of creating low distortion sine waves over the range of 0.1 Hz to 1 MHz. The DS-101 output sine wave amplitude can be set to any value between 1 mV and 10 V rms into a 600 ohm load. The output may be configured as either a balanced or unbalanced source. Frequency and amplitude are selectable by a front panel keypad, a front panel ADJUST Rotary Encoder, or an IEEE- 488 interface via a rear panel connector. The sinusoidal output waveform is generated by an internal 20MHz clock which is bypassed when an external 5 MHz or 10 MHz reference clock is applied through a rear panel BNC connector.

The Model DS-101 is portable and housed in a compact enclosure. Selected frequency, amplitude and other information are displayed on a two line vacuum fluorescent display. The unit is powered by 117 VAC 50/60 Hz supplied via a standard line cord to the rear of the unit.
Specifications presume instrument operated in Balanced mode with 600 Ω load impedance unless otherwise stated.

1 Use of instrument at very low output levels is subject to increased signal to noise ratio as floor-noise for signals below 50 mVrms becomes a significant percentage of the output signal. Additionally, line frequency interference from ground loops between the generator and circuits it is connected to may be significant.
